Deborah Mandzuk
The seed for Deborah’s love of music and dance was planted at a young age. Her father would dance with her at family gatherings and swing her around the dance floor; his energy, passion and rhythm were contagious. She just wanted to keep dancing! A passion for dance flourished, as she began taking jazz dance classes.
Modern Ukrainian dance is a blend of formal ballet and the traditional, high energy folk-dances that originated in the villages throughout the Ukraine. While living in Winnipeg, Deborah was inspired to join several Ukrainian dance troupes, including Romanatz and Suzirya. She performed at fesitvals and gatherings throughout Manitoba including: Dauphin and Winnipeg's Folklorama. Recently she returned to Ukrainian Dance with Tryzub..
Since 1995, she continued dancing in various styles including Jazzercise, Irish, Flamenco and Latin, before falling in love with Canadian Step Dancing. Deborah had started playing Celtic music on the tin whistle and adding step dancing to her repertoire was an ideal match. She regularly performs music and dances with Get Reel, The Celtic Rabbits and Step N Up.
In 2009 Deborah discovered Zumba, becoming a certified instructor. The energy of the Latin rhythms and the aerobic dance moves truly make exercising fun! By sharing her passion for music and dance, Deborah hopes to inspire her students to keep dancing.
